Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry that treats tooth loss, restoring dental function and aesthetics through laboratory-fabricated restorations.

Prosthodontics addresses dentition affected by the loss of one or more teeth, in order to restore the aesthetics and function of the dento-maxillary system.

Restorations are crafted in the dental laboratory from various materials that help re-establish the function and appearance of the dental arches. Crowns must meet four essential roles: aesthetic, masticatory, phonetic, and proper dental occlusion.

Crowns have improved steadily over time. Today we work with four main variants: metal-ceramic, monolithic zirconia, layered zirconia, and ceramic over zirconia.
